(Exodus 3:6 NIV) “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.”

God spoke those words to Moses when Moses was standing in front of the burning bush.  It was a wonderful reminder to Moses that God was faithful; He’d made promises to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and He would KEEP those promises!

But this is one of those cases where there is more!  Jesus comments on that verse in the New Testament.  The Sadducees have come to Jesus with what they think is a “stumper question.”  Jesus answers it easily, but then gets to the heart of the matter—the resurrection from the dead.  (You see, the Sadducees didn’t believe that people would rise from the dead.)  Jesus says to them, “Now about the dead rising—have you not read in the book of Moses, in the account of the bush, how God said to him, ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’?  {27} He is not the God of the dead, but of the living.”  (Mark 12:26-27a NIV) In other words, in addition to this passage being a reminder of God’s faithfulness in the past, it’s also a glorious reminder of what’s going to happen to you in the future!  You’re going to rise from the dead someday!

And knowing that allows you to approach all of life with an amazing confidence.  The #1 enemy which you have—death—has been defeated.  You WILL rise from the dead someday, you WILL spend eternity in heaven!  THE big question in life has been answered for you!  That allows you to move through this life with confidence, and to look forward to life eternal!

Eager for eternity, just like you,
