(Hebrews 3:1 NIV) “Therefore, holy brothers, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we confess.”

How has the week been going?  Have you gotten everything done that you have wanted too?  Have you had problems at work?  Have you had some physical ailments that just won’t go away?  Have you had trouble with your friends or your grades at school?  Do you need more sleep and less stress?

No matter who you are you have probably had a problem pop up in your life this week and if not there will probably be a problem that will pop up in the next few days – that is just how life goes.   There are problems.

And it is when you have troubles, hardships and problems that often times you focus all your attention on those troubles, hardships and problems.  They consume your life until they are taken care of.  But it is when those difficulties arise that you should not focus on those difficulties but do what the writer to the Hebrews says and “fix your thoughts on Jesus.”

It is amazing how much easier it is to deal with the difficulties in our lives when we look to Jesus.  It is easier because in Jesus you find your strength to deal with the difficult coworker, in Jesus you find patience to deal with your children, in Jesus you find a friend when it seems all other friends have left you, in Jesus you find comfort knowing that those ailments you are experiencing are being used for your good.  Finally, it is in Jesus where you are reminded of that heavenly calling He has made you a part of through faith in Him.

When all else fails to give you peace or comfort during your times of trouble “fix your thoughts on Jesus!”  He never fails!  He always listens!  He always takes care of your problems in the way that He knows is best for you!

Fixing my thoughts on Jesus, just like you,

Pastor Schumann
