Matthew 27:3,4) “When Judas, who had betrayed him, saw that Jesus was condemned, he was seized with remorse and returned the thirty silver coins to the chief priests and the elders. 4“I have sinned,” he said, “for I have betrayed innocent blood.”
As we hear about Judas, we are led to reflect – Judas treasured money more than Jesus.
What do you and I treasure? Could our life priorities pass God’s test of “perfection”? Remember, in God’s eyes, sin is sin. My sin of greed is just as damning as Judas’ sin. My sinful priorities lead me to deserve hell just as much as Judas deserved it. As Judas was guilty, so am I, so are you. We, too, have “betrayed innocent blood” because of our sins.
But thank God, that Jesus didn’t treasure earthly treasures; instead, He treasured you and me! He treasured you and me so much that He went to the cross and died for you and for me! He endured Judas’ betrayal and our betrayals so that He could win eternal treasures for you and for me! It is because Jesus made us His most precious treasure that we in turn make Him our most precious treasure – never to let Him go!
That’s a treasure! And that treasure is yours!
Thankful that God treasured me, just like you,
