Hi All! Hope your week is going well so far. Here is a little mid-week devotion for you.

(Romans 8:35-39) Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written, “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us form the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Hardships. We all have them. There is not one of us who does not face challenges in our everyday lives. We have family problems, we have job problems, we have money problems, we have stress problems, we have church problems and the list could go on and on. Sometimes these problems that we have in our lives make us question what God has in store for us.  Sometimes they make us even ask the question, “Does God love me?”

And the answer to that question is a resounding YES!!!  Paul tells us in the above verses that nothing will ever make Christ cease to love us.  Paul tells us that none of our troubles, hardships, persecution, a lack of food (famine), a lack of clothing or other possessions (nakedness), danger, or sword could ever stop Christ from loving us!  Even when our hardships and troubles make us feel like we have been defeated, like God does not love us, Paul tells us that we are by no means defeated but we are conquerors!  For us who are in Christ, victory is always the outcome.  In every encounter with adversity, even when apparently overcome by death, the Christian is the victor!

How can this be?  It is because of the love that Christ has for us!  God promises us that nothing will ever be able to take his love from us because of what Jesus has done.  And it is with this promise that we know that neither life nor death, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor future, neither family troubles nor work troubles, or anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus!

How awesome is that!  Our God will always love us because of what Jesus did for you and me on the cross.  Because of Jesus you and I are conquerors!  And so no matter what trouble or hardship you are facing this week, know that the almighty God will never stop loving you and because of that love you are more than conquerors!

Able to conquer any adversity that comes my way through Jesus, just like you,

Pastor Schumann
